WTT Floating in Florals

Hey Everyone, it’s finally full on SPRING TIME.

I don’t know about you, but I have hung up my down jackets and shoved my winter blues into a dark place for the next few months.  Finally, it’s warm enough to rock those open toe booties you’ve been dying to break out since January.

With spring as any season comes trends, so it is time for another WTT!  Today I’ll be discussing something groundbreaking….florals. I know, right Miranda? Related image

Anyway, this season, it’s not just about adding a pop of flowery fun to your outfits, but rather about making your entire ensemble a growing garden. Let’s begin shall we?

Okay so, although the runways were beaming with bold, vibrant versions of this trend, you may be thinking, nah not for me.  Hang tight, because I do believe it is possible to pull this look into normal-person mode for the streets.

Here, Christina from The Boho Flow is totally rocking this trend.  The two piece she found is pulled together  and is not outrageous for a daily outting. The floral pattern doesn’t scream out too loudly, and she even managed to pull in a SECOND trend by layering those fishnets. YASS GIRL.

I’m a big fan of matching two piece outfits in general, so making them vibrant and covered in a pattern of sorts is basically demanding a chunk of my latest paycheck. Anyway, they’re super easy to navigate on days when my mind does not want to work too hard at finding an outfit, and they still look polished and complete. Anything to make a Monday morning run smoother, and I’m in.  So here, with the pant and jacket combination you can even pull off office-chic trendy any day of the week.

Natasha Goldenberg, Russian style icon and journalist brought this trend right down to the streets in her two piece suit attire.  This is also a great way to bring this fun vibe into a professional appearance, but will also make you stand out in a sea of black blazers.

Maybe we can’t all afford those pricey accessories that she’s toting along, but the center piece (lol get it….like a table flower center piece)  of the look keeps the trend spirit strong within us.

Let’s explore some more realistic styles to get shopping!

LuLu’s has this blue hued beauty set that is definitely wearable right away! You could even take a leather jacket (as see previously) and layer if it’s a bit too chilly for bearing all arms still.

aaaaa

Honestly, sometimes Forever 21 is worth taking a deep breath and browsing through.

Thank you for reading if you stuck with me through all those patterns and prints. General synopsis for those skim-readers: Florals are fun. ~*Spring into it*~

Puns are fun also.

WTT White Jeans in the Winter?

Welcome back to What The Trend!  I know it’s been quite a while since I’ve posted, but what better time to reconnect with old friends than around the holidays?!

So today’s topic is something that I have been noticing that has been breaking the fashion rules. Wearing white jeans in the winter.  So like any fashion loving styling abiding citizen, my initial reaction to seeing this was “WHATTT in the style world are you doing! The style gods are shunning you!…..or are they?”  After letting this trend settle in, my eyes adjusted.  Seeing many bloggers and style icons pull of this look with a classic pair of OTK boots, my style rule book readjusted.

Check out this babe rocking winter white like a pro!  Winter white can be one of the hardest looks to pull off.  I believe this look takes some serious pre-planning.  Finding just the right shade of white to complement the outfit is the key to this trend.

Blogger, Sydne Style, is rocking this look.  The monochrome blend of black and white becomes a classic look rather than an off season faux pas!

And finally A Southern Drawl blogger, Grace Wainwright, found the perfect shade of suade to pair with this transitional look into the colder months.

Feeling style inspired? Me too, until I attempted this look and felt my fashion genes (see what I did there? 😉 ) had betrayed all my trendy knows.

So, if you are thinking of attempting this trend, here are my final tips on rocking the winter white jean:

  1. Find the Perfect white jean for YOU.  Finding jeans can already be a daunting process so if you don’t already own a pair that you know look killer on you, maybe this trend isn’t worth spending the money on the 2-3 times you may be wearing it this winter.
  2. TRY IT ON BEFORE you are rushing around with 5 minutes in the morning and decide this is the time to explore your trend setter side.  This could lead to panic and late Monday morning havoc.
  3. If you don’t have the pairings, this look could easily look like a mistake.  Tall boots, suede materials, a cozy sweater are all things that pull this look into a winter vibe.  Without these things put together, the jeans will stand out and begin to look out of season, making the style gods right….and I sure hate when other people are right.
  4. Have fun & follow your inspiration!  If you see a blogger, friend or style icon rock this trend follow what they do! Observe how they pulled the look together and then compare it to your own closet.  If you don’t own those excessively expensive Stewart Weitzman OTK boots, don’t kill yourself forcing the trend.

Okay so to sum things up, this trend is a style RISK!  I am all for supporting breaking the style rules, but be true to you and your closet!  I can say as a babe on a budget that this one isn’t worth breaking the bank for.

So, if the jeans fit, rock ’em!

DIY Glitter Travel Mug!

Hey all! Okay I am super excited about the latest DIY!  It is super easy and you are going to love the results! Here we go: a DIY travel floating glittering mug!

Who doesn’t need this in their life?  We’ve all been there in the morning, late, rushing, no time to sip your favorite caffeinated beverage.  So you have no choice but to take it along that drowsy commute.  You reach for a disposable paper cup with just as much dullness as the sleepy zombie persona of those who are non-morning people.

Brighten up your morning (literally) with this DIY!

img_2757img_2756img_2751img_2752img_2754

Supplies:

  • Glitter of your choice
  • Clear tacky glue
  • water
  • Travel mug with a removable inner cup (not sure if there is an official name for these, but they are found at a local craft store such as Michael’s!)

Let’s get started.

  1. Remove cup inside.
  2. Fill base of cup with water about 3/4 of the way that will fit your cup, this will take some experimentation so I recommend filling the water without glitter or glue to make sure your happy with the measurement.
  3. Add a bunch of tacky glue! This will take up the rest of the 1/4 of space needed but don’t stress about exact measuring, it’s adjustable!
  4. Get Glittery! Add you favorite mixture of glitter into the cup and stir vigorously with the water and glue!
  5. Insert travel mug inner piece into cup of glitter mixture.  **this WILL be messy, find a sink or outdoor setting!** You will loose some of your water mixture so there is room for the inner mug, but its totally alright!  It gives the glitter just enough space to be able to float and dance around!
  6. Screw on the inside mug super tight!! You won’t be opening this again, unless you have a desire to change the inside mixture.
  7. Fill with your favorite morning beverage and get out there and sparkle!!

I am in love with my mug currently, and hope this DIY is helpful for you all! Let me know what you think!

xxo,

WTT One Pieces!

Hey everyone! It’s time for another What The Trend! Where I share thoughts and ideas on the latest trending things you all love!

Today, I’m talking the dreaded topic of bathing suits. I know we all struggle to find that perfect fitting piece that will give us the confidence to remove our beachy cover-ups to the world, and sometimes a bikini just is NOT going to happen.  With that in mind, I am so exited how the timeless one-piece bathing suit has come swinging back into style! Whether your a monokini fan, or a classic bombshell there is no shame strutting your one piece on that beach!
I have searched far & wide for one that I was willing to pay a reasonable price point and that would meet my dreams of perfect detailin & I have finally found it!!

This black/ strappy item was on sale so I just couldn’t say no! It is by Blue Life Swimwear which is carried a bunch of different places, so get out there (or google) to your hearts desire! There’s tons of swimwear sales going on since we are finally approaching fall, but there’s still so much time for beachy & pool fun!

I think these styles are here to stay! So grab your favorite piece and hit the beach!

Let me know what you all think about these suits!

A Whimsical way to Upgrade Your decor

Hey everyone! So naturally in the summer time, we try to get outside and soak up all that good feeling sunshine as much as we can! One spot I absolutely love to relax in is an outdoor porch or patio, decorated with the perfect whimsical decor to fit your summer time vibes!

Although, sometimes to find the perfect whimsy items you may just have to DIY!! That’s right, one of my favorite things to do! So for a few items I’ve decided to give a makeover, I thought what easier way than to use basic acrylic paint. It dries like its a plastic and also fast, so it’s a super simple way to jazz up any old dingy knick knacks you might need to.

Paint can be used on so many items, even some you may think are trash. Like maybe all those used up empty wine bottles from last weekends summer soiree.  Why not turn them into something that gives a colorful splash to your atmosphere!

Take a look at a few things I decided to make over, maybe they will inspire you to see some things in a new light. I used some old wine bottles, and a rusted up chandelier to brighten up a new summer time table setting.

The steps are simple:

1. Find something that could use a revamp in style

2. Gather paints of any colors you want!

3. Get painting & go wild! The more colors, the more whimsical your environment can be!

4. Let dry & love!

I hope you like this little tip so if you’re going to take anything away from this post: don’t underestimate the power of paint!

WTT…Shoulder coats?

Okay, so some of you may agree with me, some of you may not.  Here is where we draw the line of two kinds of ladies in the world:

Those in favor of the wear-your-coat-on-your-shoulders-because-you-saw-Kim K-do-it-so clearly-you-have-to

AND

All those average normal ladies who can freaking appreciate the meaning of wearing-your-coat-like-a-human-should-because-its-*FFING-cold sometimes.

I know,I know, I know; we are going into the summer season, and don’t worry I have a thought for the latest summer trends as well, but can we please just talk about this for a hot second.  WHO in the freaking fashion billion dollar industry, decided it is cool & trendy to wear your billion dollar coat casually thrown about your shoulders as if you were too messed up or lazy to find it’s well sewn arm holes at 6:00pm on a Wednesday??

True, fashion sometimes is not all about practicality, and as an artist of sorts, I can support such matters, however this trend just grinds my north eastern jersey bred winter girl gears.  Have you even lived a full North Eastern Winter, NYFW goers? Have you?!…we are not known for the most romantic scenery of sorts anywhere from December-April/May.  So with that in mind, why on this earth are we not wearing our coats to their full potential?

Aimee, I love your style so so much and I admire your fashion blogging career, but would you honestly  not be more comfortable wearing your perfect coral leather jacket displaying the fit the way it was MADE to be worn? Like maybe you did put your arms in the holes after the camera shot this…I hope.

LITERALLY ^ this girl is wearing a fur layer under her exterior jacket layer.  That just sounds like a lot of effort no?
I just…don’t understand.

Finally, this trend has actually gone to the extend that somewhere out there a designer discovered they could make a jacket  *~appear~* as though the coat was draped ever so nonchalantly, and so the cape blazer was born.

I don’t know about you all, because this seems to have been a trend that set sail before I could climb on board the ship, but this trend is one I am hoping will not remain popular among the fashion forward community.

In the words of the famous Edna Mode, “NO CAPES.”

That is all.

What do you guys think? Are you team cape jacket, or are you team arms exist?  Let me know, real talk.

Amanda

DIY Distressed Boyfriend Denim

Hey everyone!! Welcome back to Eat Your Glitter.  Things have been insane lately, but I am gaining some more free time and will be on a more frequent update to the blog schedule soon!  In the meantime, I NEED to share the latest DIY project!

So I found these old boys jeans hiding in the depths of what I call a closet, and I seized the opportunity for a crafty upgrade!  Similar to how I DIY-ed my black skinnies (see post here about it!)  I took the same method and hacked away at these til they came out JUST how a distressed boyfriend jean should!

They are durable for work, since I always am COVERED in acrylic paint, I don’t mind dirtying them up a bit, and they are the perfect weekend go-to casual look!

Let me know what you think!
